Pre-Season Week 1-3

October 2-20, 2023

The Pre-Season has started!

During the first couple weeks of our pre-season, veteran and leadership members shared their experiences, showcased our previous robot, and explained the complexities and nuances of their respective subsystems. The Fabrication team went over the basics of CAD (Computer-aided design), safety protocols, and went over the tools in our workshop. They are also starting on different pre-season projects, including a go-kart! The Electrical team demonstrated the basic overview of electric systems, battery handling, breakers, safety protocols, and power distribution. The business team talked about the different elements of the team including fundraising, finance, branding, and public relations and made great progress. Meanwhile, the Programming team introduced rookies to our programming environment, computer science concepts, and tools and languages such as Kotlin, Java, Git, Github, IntelliJ, and Markdown.

Team Bonding at Intel Museum

Members of our team went to the Intel Museum to have a team bonding event. They participated in the Garbage In Garbage Out activity and learned the principle of the garbage in, garbage out terminology and how pivotal effective teamwork and documentation matter. Our team also had a tour of the Intel Museum and learned of the many technological innovations that Intel helped produce. At the end, they even gifted us Intel Shoelaces!

Maker Faire Trip

On Saturday, our team made our way to the Maker Faire on Mare Island in Vallejo. Maker Faire has finally made a comeback since 2019 and our team was able to attend. Maker Faire is a convention of DIY enthusiasts and makers alike. Participants come from a wide variety of interests, such as robotics, 3D printing, computers, arts and crafts, and more.
